Terms of service

Last updated 3 November 2026 · These terms are a working template and should be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before commercial launch.

1. What we do

Your China Concierge provides product research, sourcing, price negotiation, inspection and international shipping coordination for goods purchased in China on your behalf. We act as your buying agent, not as the manufacturer or as a stock-holding retailer.

2. Quotes and price validity

Indicative ranges shown on the site are not offers. A binding quote is issued in writing, itemises the item price, our service fee, shipping and any duties, and is valid for 48 hours unless stated otherwise. We may withdraw a quote if the item becomes unavailable or the maker’s price changes.

3. Payment

We do not advance funds. Work on an order begins after cleared payment of the full quoted amount. Prices are quoted in US dollars unless agreed otherwise. You are responsible for any fees charged by your bank or payment provider.

4. Service fee

Our concierge fee is disclosed separately and is normally 8–15% of the item’s source price with a minimum per order. Complex or custom commissions may carry a different fee, agreed before payment.

5. Sourcing and substitution

We source the item described in the accepted quote. We do not substitute makers, materials or designs without your written approval. If we cannot obtain the item as described, see clause 7.

6. Inspection

Before dispatch we provide inspection evidence, normally photographs, video and a packing record. For ceramics we photograph the base mark. You may ask reasonable questions before dispatch. Inspection does not constitute an independent appraisal or a guarantee beyond the documentation supplied.

7. Refunds

You receive a full refund, including our service fee, if we cannot supply the item as described, if the wrong item is supplied, or if condition materially differs from what was represented. Refunds are made through the original payment route where possible.

8. Shipping, damage and loss

Shipments are insured and tracked. Report transit damage with photographs within 48 hours of delivery. We will arrange replacement where possible or refund. Delivery estimates are not guarantees; customs and carrier delays are outside our control.

9. Duties and taxes

Unless your quote expressly includes them, import duties, VAT and local taxes are your responsibility. We declare parcels accurately and do not undervalue shipments.

10. Returns for change of mind

Sourced-to-order, handmade and personalised items are not returnable for change of mind. This does not limit your rights where the item is faulty, damaged or not as described.

11. Excluded items

We do not handle antiquities, including items dating from 1911 or earlier that may be subject to Chinese export review or prohibition. We also decline counterfeits, restricted materials, weapons, medicines, and anything we cannot authenticate with reasonable confidence.

12. Your responsibilities

You confirm that the delivery information you provide is accurate, that the item may lawfully be imported into your country, and that you will not ask us to misdeclare value or contents.

13. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
